The journey to capture this photograph was arduous. Twenty-seven hours of flying, three airplanes, a two hour bus ride and almost twenty-five miles into a multi-day backpacking trip on the South Island of New Zealand. Did I mention plantar fasciitis, an unstable knee, bad weather and food poisoning? As I turned around and saw this incredible vista, I knew it was something special.
